Connor Onion is a play-by-play announcer for Big Ten Network and ESPN.
Connor debuted with Big Ten Network in January 2021 and calls College Football, College Basketball, College Baseball, and College Volleyball. Connor joined ESPN in August 2021 and broadcasts College Football, College Basketball & College Baseball.
At Big Ten Network, Connor was the play-by-play voice of the Big Ten Baseball Championship game in 2023. In November 2023, he was paired with Bill Raftery, one of the voices of the Men's Basketball Final Four, for #4 Michigan State vs. #9 Tennessee. He also calls a weekly college football game with 4-time Super Bowl Champion, Matt Millen & sideline reporter, Elise Menaker.
In front of a crowd of 92,003 at Nebraska's Memorial Stadium on August 30, 2023, Connor broadcasted world history. Nebraska played Omaha in women's volleyball in front of the largest crowd at a women's sporting event ever. Richard Deitsch of The Athletic profiled Connor's career & call of the match.
On top of his national TV work, Connor has appeared on regional TV, calling college hockey. For Bally Sports North - home of the Minnesota Wild, Twins & Timberwolves – Connor broadcasted “Hockey Day Minnesota” in 2022 & 2023.
Prior to Big Ten Network and ESPN, Connor was the “TV Voice of the Southern Illinois Salukis,” broadcasting Southern Illinois football, basketball & baseball on ESPN’s digital outlet, The Valley on ESPN.
Connor has vast experience in professional baseball. He’s called games for the Quad Cities River Bandits (Houston Astros Affiliate, 2017), Kane County Cougars (Arizona Diamondbacks Affiliate, 2018-19) & was "The Voice" of the Chicago-based Windy City ThunderBolts (2021-22).
Connor was raised in La Grange, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, where he grew up emulating Michael Jordan, Sammy Sosa, Magglio Ordóñez, & Dan Marino in his backyard. He attended Ball State University, where he was recognized as one of the top college announcers in the country by Sportscasters Talent Agency of America.
